Nepal and the Russian Federation (former Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics) established diplomatic relations on July 20, 1956. Nepal extended full and formal diplomatic recognition to the Russian Federation as a sovereign country on December 28, 1991 soon after the disintegration of the USSR. H. E. Prof. Ram Prasad Manandhar was the first non residential Nepalese Ambassador to the USSR. He was appointed soon after establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries. Prof. Manandhar was the Nepalese Ambassador to the European countries ( England, France, the Eastern Germany) and the United States of America . The Nepalese Embassy in Moscow was established in 1961. The first residential Nepalese Ambassador to the USSR was Mr. Jharendra Narayan Singh, who presented his Credential Letters in Kremlin on July 27, 1961.. The Embassy of Nepal in Moscow is accredited to Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Estonia, Kyrgyz Republic, Latvia, Moldova, Romania, Ukraine, Lithuania, Tajikistan, Georgia and Turkmenistan. |
